A fine arts (DEC, 1999) and graphic design (AEC, 2001) graduate — yes, from the last millennium — solving graphic communication challenges has always been baked into my DNA. That curiosity never faded: it still fuels my thirst for learning and the attention to detail that makes all the difference in my craft.
UI Developer
I wasn’t a front-end developer when I started out — back then, my title was “Web Integrator,” until the term turned pejorative. I was first and foremost a graphic designer, eager to master his medium. My fascination with the efficiency of Quark Express 4’s centralized style sheets, used for laying out printed documents, quickly led me to fall for the challenges that Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) let you solve. That technical resourcefulness and love of learning never left me: every new technology is a challenge worth mastering to keep growing my independence.
Amateur photographer, illustrationist and graphic designer
Since the first drawing and painting lessons my parents gave me for my 10th birthday, I’ve grown into someone passionate about the arts and graphic communication. Using pigments and pixels to convey a message or an emotion, however subtle, was long just a hobby — and these days I take real pride in earning my living, much like a contemporary artist, coding pixels to communicate optimally.
Still, there’s so much to discover in the visual arts that I keep certain pursuits, like hand drawing and photography, as pure amateur pleasure — no pressure, just the joy of seeing the world differently. Those who know me will tell you my real medium is people: a good ear, an all-around curiosity, and a soft spot for spirited conversation.
